We were seeking a traditional ryokan experience and this did not disappoint. It The ryokan is built with beautiful wood, screens and hardwood floors and tatami mats. The room we had was quite large with futons on the tatami mats and a small table. We were served a welcome tea and helped with how to wear the yukata properly. We really enjoyed wearing the yukata and wood sandals to go to the various Onsen in town, which are all located within one km of the ryokan. Tattoos are not a problem in Kinosaki. The highlight of our stay were the meals. The dinner kaseiki was incredible. Fresh crab, sashimi, assorted small dishes, soup, tempura etc and even a glass of sake. The second night was a beef hotpot. Breakfast was just as interesting with multiple courses and generous portions. The staff were very kind, and despite the language barrier helped us to understand the proper way to navigate the traditional ways. The ryokan is really a special experience and is great value when you consider the quality of the meals served.

We felt very welcome when arriving. This ryokan is not on the main street near the river, just one house block behind it and therefore extremely quiet. The ryokan interior decoration is very much to our liking, with a lot of wood and a great attention for details. Our room was big, with ample closet spaces to store all our clothes and belonging. The windows and inner terraces were garden side, so we felt close to the nature. Very very good dinner and breakfast, with gentle service and counsels on the right 'process' :) A shared bathroom with a small onsen at ground level is available, which could be renovated a little but I used it only once as we spent our time touring all the big Onsen in KinnosakiOnsen anyway and felt very 'clean' all the time !

Great traditional Japanese meals. Very comfortable rooms. You’re provided a yukata and footwear from the moment you arrive so you immediately have something comfortable and fashionable to wear for the duration of your stay. You are also provided a pass for access to 7 different onsen in town so you have lots of options for relaxing in the springs. The staff were all wonderful. Very attentive at all points and very forgiving of us trying to stumble through the language barrier. The lady taking care of us also gifted us origami each day which we'll treasure.

Perfect place to stay to get the most out of KinosakiOnsen. Perfect location in the middle of town. Lovely hosts who were happy to help and share a laugh. English speaking host as well. Room was large. The dinner and breakfast are a must. We stayed 2 nights kaiseki one night and shabu shabu the other. Never seen so much food! Very good quality. Public Onsen pass included and the most stylish yukata in town. Make sure to wear this everywhere and get in the spirit. Highly recommend. Private toilet in the room.

An exceptionall stay in a magical location! The Ryokan is totally in the heart of the town for all the onsen visits. We were greeted so graciously on arrival and the hospitality continued on this level throughout, with help how to navigate the yakuta and how to eat Japanese food when we where a bit stumped beyond what we already knew! The breakfasts and evening meals were amazing, a feast for the eyes and a real experience! A stay to remember for a lifetime. The hospitality was beautiful, thank you!
